Sydney, when you're ready to tackle ice cream, let me know. Of course, with mine you really need an old-fashioned (you can get them at Wal-mart)ice cream freezer. When I was a kid, we had the hand-turned (crank) kind, but mine is an electric that you just plug, add rock salt, ice and go! The recipe I use is a very good basic that you can turn into anything you want ... fruit, candy bar, cookie, etc. I think it's so cool that you have taken this art on. It's a skill that is dying, so keep up the great work!!
ReplyDeleteCool, Rhonda! I'll definitely talk to you when I tackle that! :) I can't wait...

I just love your goal list and I must admit we do have some goals in common: pasta from scratch, own ice cream (I buyed a machine but still in the box - since a couple of months now), herb garden (I try and try but only seem to grow basil [and I don't want to believe that it could have something to do with my watering skills]) and I'm currently in a "I-want-to-make-everything-myself-from-scratch" period.
I tried a recipe for crème brulée a couple of weeks ago and I must say, it's really easy, I always thought it would be difficult but you don't even need a burner (how do you call the fire burn thing in english? :-)) I managed to "brulé" it with the grill of my oven. The recipe is on my blog.
As I'm from Brussels, I could help you with the traditional food from different countries, so that you would have a fifth country to add to your list
